[ REGARDING LOVE ] [ ICARUS ] [ THE REFUGEE ]

Regarding Love
(Mike Silk)
[ MP3 ]

Are you still counting fallen sparrows?
Still keeping watch on blades of grass?
The years go by like fallen leaves,
And everything you've made must pass.
Two thousand years down on our knees,
I have to say: mmm mmm,
Why don't you help me to believe?
This doesn't feel like love to me,
This doesn't feel like love to me.

I know about the broken hearts,
I know about the broken bones,
I know that every broken hope,
Turns waiting hearts as cold as stone.
But listen father, I know you see;
I have to say: mmm mmm,
Why don't you help me to believe?
This doesn't feel like love to me,
This doesn't feel like love to me.

This song's for every wasted life,
This song's for every faded bloom,
This song's for every stillborn child,
This song's for every empty womb,
Your jesus died, and now we're free,
I have to say, forgive me please;
Why don't you help me to believe?
This doesn't feel like love to me,
This doesn't feel like love to me.

Icarus
(Mike Silk)
[ MP3 ]

Another morning turns to afternoon,
Another evening turns to night,
And as for me; I turn to you,
When shadows drive away the light.
Time robs us blind, the days turn to years,
Time slips away, and dark night draws near,
Time comes and goes, but love's always here,
Time after time after time,
Time after time after time.

Last night I dreamed again of Icarus,
I saw him fall without a sound,
And every bird took to the sky,
As he lay screaming on the ground.
Time robs us blind, the days turn to years,
Time slips away, and dark night draws near,
Time comes and goes, but love's always here,
Time after time after time,
Time after time after time.

And Icarus, your poor wings failed you,
For you were only flesh and blood;
And aren't we all like Icarus,
Just feathers on the breath of god?
Time robs us blind, the days turn to years,
Time slips away, and dark night draws near,
Time comes and goes, but love's always here,
Time after time after time,
Time after time after time.

So come close and sleep now,
I need to feel you, warm and sure,
And fall into the arms of love,
And dream of Icarus no more.
Time robs us blind, the days turn to years,
Time slips away, and dark night draws near,
Time comes and goes, but love's always here,
Time after time after time,
Time after time after time.

The Refugee
(Mike Silk)

The old man has no time for memories,
But today a girl's face made him cry in the street,
Fifty dead years in the fog of a cold and strange land,
He could pass for a shadow; like the fading tattoo on his arm.

Some days he just can't remember,
Some days he knows that he'll never forget;
Standing in line again, hearing the shouts and the dogs,
Wearing the yellow star, keeping his eyes on the ground.

The old man sits feeding the pigeons,
A ghost of his past in a coat that's too big,
Throwing the bread to the ground, he tries not to remember,
Broken glass in the gutter, and fighting for food in the dirt.

But that was so long ago, and it was so far away,
And some people say that none of these things really happened.
Sometimes at night he can hear her,
Sometimes at night he can still see her face;
One of a thousand lost souls standing there at the station,
A dream turned to ashes, a love gone to fire and to smoke.

The old man has no time for memories,
But today a girl's face made him cry in the street,
Fifty dead years in the fog of a cold and strange land,
He could pass for a shadow; like the fading tattoo on his arm.
